Q: How can I bring my family to the Netherlands?

A: A: Under the Modern Migration Policy Act you are considered to be the sponsor for your partner and children who will be staying with you in the Netherlands. The sponsor (the person who has an interest in the foreign national coming to the Netherlands) must have an independent position with increased possibilities, with rights (submitting residence applications) and obligations (obligation to provide information, obligation to keep and retain records, duty of care).

You must apply for the visa and residence permit for your family members and you are responsible for them during their stay in the Netherlands.
Visa and residence permit applications for your family members can be transferred to your employer or host institute. Your employer can contact the Expat Center Food Valley to assist with the applications for your family members (partner and/or children), or to apply on your behalf.
